Consumer First Aid Kits

Essentially, there are two ways of acquiring first aid products: purchase a prepared kit or make your own first aid kit.

A purchased First Aid Kit
There are three basic aspects of purchasing a first aid kit. Two of these are negative and one of them is positive.

  1. you end up with things you wont use
This will be inevitable, but see the third factor below. Some things you purchase, you might think you will never use them and still find one day that they come in handy.
  2. you quickly run out of the most useful things
The second factor can be remedied by finding a supplier that will replenish products that you use. You might do this by figuring out the rate at which you use the items (remembering that seasons are different) then ordering ahead of time.
  3. you end up with things you find surprisingly useful
A third factor is a positive aspect of purchasing a first aid kit, and it runs counter to the first factor listed above. For example, you find that those pointy little scissors are perfect for dealing with some first aid situations.
