First responder kits
For emergency medical personnel
Of course, first responder kits are designed with “first responders”, like paramedics and firefighters in mind. Most first responder first aid kits are equipped with easy carrying handles.
Ideally, the bag should be no more than one cubic foot. A thin bag is ideally designed to get into tight spaces. The first responder bag should also be brightly colored to denote its importance and use, as well as making it visible in poorly lit, foggy or smoky conditions.
For non-EMS responders
First responder kits are not just for paramedics and ambulance drivers. Many police forces across the country are installing first responder first aid kits into police cruisers. First responder kits are also a practical purchase for the following groups or agencies:
- volunteer firefighters
- public swimming places
- schools, jails and other large institutions
- any large corporation, factory or other industry
First responder kits (also known as first response kits) are the top line of first aid kits. They are usually compartmentalized for easy retrieval of materials. The kits are likely to hold material that requires special training. In emergencies, seconds save lives, so having trained first aid specialists on staff is a good idea for any large company or institution.
First responder kits typically have all the basic first aid items plus other first aid products. These might include:
- automated external defibrillators (AEDs)
- spinal first aid products (spine boards or vacuum mattresses)
- oxygen packs or other similar products.
- advanced CPR products
Emergency first response kits can come in various sizes, containing anywhere from 150 to over 700 items. If you purchase first aid products from a company that also makes first response kits, this can indicate the companys reputability and seriousness in supplying first aid kits and first aid products.
